I still can't believe my defense went as well as it did. I was confident with my writing, presentation and easily defended all th​e questions asked by my committee. Both the Program Director and Dean called my Capstone "The Exemplar for the DNP Program”. It can't get much better than that!

In 2004, the member schools affiliated with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) voted to endorse the Position Statement which called for moving the level of advanced nursing practice from the Master's to the Doctorate level by 2015.  Although the DNP emphasis is on clinical practice, it requires completion of a quality or practice improvement project, it requires writing and research competencies comparable to dissertation requirements.
